One Direction may be a successful boyband in their own right but that hasn’t stopped them paying homage to the groups before them, with the lads performing a cover of Backstreet Boys’ classic track ‘I Want It That Way,’ while on stage in Sweden, hours before they revealed they have the “best 1D news ever.”
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson hit the stage at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday where they performed on their ‘Take Me Home’ tour.Perhaps a little bored of the standard setlist of their hits, the boys are said to have paid tribute to the biggest-selling boyband of all time Backstreet Boys, singing a rendition of their classic ‘I Want It That Way.’
It seems the performance went down a treat and even caught the attention of BSB themselves who tweeted the boys to thank them for the tribute.
“Heard @OneDirection did an impromtu performance of “I Want It That Way” in Sweden last night. Well done bros!” BSB tweeted along with a video of the band singing the song.
Now that’s a compliment! Meanwhile, the boys jetted out of Sweden earlier today but not before Harry tweeted: “Sweden, you were amazing. And it’s been a while, good to be back. Thanks for having us.”
Meanwhile, the band have left fans anticipating next week after revealing they have a special announcement to make. Niall Horan tweeted on Thursday: “THE most exciting 1D news EVER is being announced in 6 days!”Liam Payne also got in on the action and tweeted: “Get ready! Exciting announcement coming from us nextttttt week!”
